5 basic rules

1. Conduct Keyword Research

Conduct a keyword research to determine the exact keywords and keyword phrases that should be incorporated into your website content. Search for terms that your customers might search when they look for products & services like yours. Check the popularity of each keyword by comparing the number of results in Google Search and the Global Monthly Search Volume from Google Adwords.

2. Write Descriptive Texts

Usually the pages that do not contain enough text do not appear on the first results. Always try to write quality content and have more than 250 words per page.

3. Avoid Duplicate Content

Duplicate content is a major issue for sites like online stores, news portals etc. If two pages look very much alike, Google removes one of them from the index. This means that it deletes pages that contain very few or not unique text. Thus always try to write unique, quality and descriptive text for each page. You can check your site for duplicate content by using the tool.

4. Mind the Keyword Usage

Use a group of terms that share a common word or phrase to optimize one page. It will allow the search engines to consider the entire page relevant to the common theme.Add two, or at most three targeted search terms in each page and place them strategically within the text. Be careful not to insert more than two or three keywords per page that can divert the search engines’ ability to recognize the most relevant phrases.

5.Keyword Optimization–KeywordRank

Incorporate the selected keywords in each page title, HTML headings (H1-6), meta description and meta keywords. The page title is the one appearing in the top bar of the browser window. It is also the one it appears in the Search Results, so it must attract the user to click on it. The H1-6 tags are the headings of the page’s paragraphs. The meta description is a meta-data field appearing sometimes in the search results as snippets. The meta keywords have not any significant value for SEO these days, nevertheless you can use this meta-tag and include the important keywords of your site. Keyword density should be higher for the most important terms of your page.  Additionally in order to be sure that you have optimized for the correct terms you need to find the Keyword Rank (KR) of each keyword of your page. The KR is a special rank that measures how optimized a term is inside the page. You can use the Keyword Analyze tool to perform such an analysis. Make sure you keep the KR relatively high for your important keywords and low the unimportant ones.

This certainly will not go unnoticed. Also, if you set realistic goals – i.e to get into the top 30 results in Google for a particular keyword, rather than be the number one for 10 keywords in  5 search engines, you will feel happier and more satisfied with your results.

===============================================================
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is often considered the more technical part of Web marketing. This is true because SEO does help in the promotion of sites and
at the same time it requires some technical knowledge – at least familiarity with basic HTML. SEO is sometimes also called SEO copyrighting because most of the
techniques that are used to promote sites in search engines deal with text. Generally, SEO can be defined as the activity of optimizing Web pages or whole sites in order
to make them more search engine-friendly, thus getting higher positions in search results.

One of the basic truths in SEO is that even if you do all the things that are necessary to do, this does not automatically guarantee you top ratings but if you neglect basic rules.

What Is SEO?

Introduction:-
i) Search engine optimization is many things, it's an art and it's a a science. SEO is creative and it's technical. It's logical, parasitic and opportunistic.
The aim of seo is to maximize targeted types of valuable traffic to a website from search engines by improving the visibility of said website in Google organic or unpaid SERPS(Search Engine Result Pages). Traditionally, this has meant aiming for no1, or top ten positions in Google but SEO has evolved and now a SEO needs tube more a marketer than just a tech geek. A seo needs to be concerned, not just with high positions in Google for relevant keywords, but with analyzing competition, traffic and analytics, and converting traffic to leads and sales. I like to draw a line between SEO and Link building. One (SEO)is on-page(on-site), the other, off-site (Linkbuilding).
Although SEO helps to increase the traffic to one's site, SEO is not advertising. Of course, you can be included in paid search results for given keywords but basically the idea behind the SEO techniques is to get top placement because your site is relevant to a particular search term, not because you pay.

SEO can be a 30-minute job or a permanent activity. Sometimes it is enough to do some generic SEO in order to get high in search engines – for instance, if you are a leader for rare keywords, then you do not have a lot to do in order to get decent placement. But in most cases, if you really want to be at the top, you need to pay special attention to SEO and devote significant amounts of time and effort to it. Even if you plan to do some basic SEO, it is essential that you understand how search engines work and which items are most important in SEO.

* SEO is not gaming Google (for us anyway). It's about trying to understand how and why Google engineers want to rank pages above others. SEO is about optimizing a site to give Google what it wants, and at the same time, meeting the requirements, the intent, of a specific search engine visitor i.e. to buy something, to learn something, to store something, to communicate with someone.
